Pumahuanca summit

Description

The Pumahuanca peak is one of the mountains of the Vilcanota mountain range, located in the upper part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Urubamba province, Cusco. It is a majestic scenario where we can observe a high biodiversity when traveling several altitudinal floors from the vegetation of valley, middle floor and high mountain.

The Mantanay Private Conservation Area was established in 2010, with an extension of 365.57 hectares, with the objective of conserving, preserving and restoring the high Andean flora and fauna species, among which stand the hanging forests of Polylepis, the vizcacha, the Andean fox, and a multitude of birds, some of them classified as endangered.

The most important economic activity is livestock, where Alpacas, Sheep and Llamas abound, of which wool is used to create their own clothing and surpluses to generate economic income.
